New focus – Message Not Clear




Problem
Brenda had experienced a very enjoyable and successful career in education for 30 years, but was not ready for retirement – after all she was only in her early 50’s. She had decided that once retired she was going to spend more time in the non-for-profit sector.

Initially she was successful, she discovered her skills were very transferable to this sector and she became involved in an advisory and consultancy role at senior levels with several leading organizations both locally and nationally.

But her success also meant she had not had time to develop new opportunities and now potential positions were drying up and she was feeling ‘stuck’ in promoting herself.

She wanted to be able to convey to others what work she was interested in and capable of doing well, she was certainly clear about the fact that she wanted to be more strategic than operational.

Solution
Through the program Brenda was able to work on really defining what she was good at from a skills and strengths point of view. Then in looking at the type of work she was interested in we were able to clearly  define her target audience and why what she did was different than others trying to sell to the same market.

This clarity meant she was able to clearly relate to the challenges her target audience had, communicate effectively what her solutions were and why her approach was different.

We then set some action steps in place to ensure that Brenda spent a regular amount of time out in the community networking and spreading her message.

Result
Brenda is now able to deliver her message clearly and with impact and has a plan in place that gets her connecting strategically with the right target audience.
